Current state for multimedia and RIA is browser add-ons: Flash (Flex), Silverlight, JavaFX Future possibility is built-in support: HTML5 ( canvas tag) + JavaScript Example: IE9 supports Direct2D and if used for canvas tag you get built-in "flash-like" platform that can use the GPU ^.^
